No. Although they have a small amount of heat, the taste is not like that of black pepper. The dried papaya seeds have more of an earthy taste to start, followed by some papaya flavor, then into something similar to wasabi, but very subtle. You can use at your leisure for more or less flavoring.

Our papaya seeds are currently sourced 100% locally from Kaua’i farmers! Eventually, our goal is to grow all of our papaya trees in a sustainable, organic, permaculture environment that regenerates soil for future generations.

Although papaya seeds are extremely safe in most cases, you should always consult your physician while pregnant or nursing before you start any new product or regimen. Papaya seeds can be used as a natural birth control by either the male or female, which means avoiding papaya seeds if you’re pregnant or trying to get pregnant is probably a good idea.
